Damon De La Pena, BDM Managing Director shown with Michael Yackira, CEO NV Energy, and the rest of the team at the recognition luncheon for the Achieving Our Full Potential Award.  The team did not win the finalist award but were one of four company wide candidates.  The NV Energy Full Potential Award is bestowed by NV Energy’s CEO to an internal project team which best exemplifies their commitment to continuous improvement as a core value.   Although the team did not win the prestigeous award it was recogized by executive Generation Management with the following accolades:

"You have run the Full Potential gauntlet, and we want you to know we sincerely appreciate it.  Sharing the stories of how we can move the organization forward in the midst of our day-to-day work and obstacles is an example to others that it CAN be done.  All of the extra work you have done as part of the Full Potential events may not have allowed your team to laser focus on our own priorities, but your participation in this has certainly benefitted the company as a whole by your example. We have Silver Above and Beyond Awards for each of you in recognition of the work you have done. Thanks again, and may you find even greater success."  Manager - Continuous Improvement, Energy Supply

Mr. De La Peña lead the Inventory Continuous Process Improvement Team. This team was formed to create an effective process for optimizing fleet-wide inventory, including the management of obsolete inventory. “Not having the right part available can negatively impact production and individual outages schedules,” said a maintenance manager from NV Energy’s Reid Gardner Station, located in Moapa, Nevada.  “Using the diverse knowledge of the team from management, planners, and warehouse team leads, the team brainstormed and mapped out the most optimal business process to support the fleet and company in managing obsolete inventory,” said a Warehouse Team Lead from Tracy Station. “These efforts across the fleet produced other measurable results of over $2 million,” she added.
